The League of Women Voters of Smithtown is beginning another busy year and we would like to ask you to advertise in our newsletter, “The Voter”, which is sent to all members and supporters of the League throughout Smithtown Township. Your support is important to our organization, because it helps defray our expenses in producing this important means of communication with our members and friends.    

A $35 donation will buy you a business card size ad, a $70 donation twice that size, $125 buys a half-page ad, and $200 buys a full page ad, for the entire League year. The VOTER is now published 7 times per year, and has received an Award of Excellence from the LWV of New York State at the bi-annual statewide convention.

President’s Message:

The LWV is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Both men and women are welcome as members. This year we will continue our study of the township budget in order to promote greater citizen awareness of local government process.

We support development of a long range plan for the public library. We support measures for preservation of the waterfront, wetlands, bird sanctuaries, and open space usage of properties within Smithtown Township. We will provide trained moderators to serve at candidate forums so as to help give every citizen the opportunity to hear the candidates’ views on important issues. As we explore these and other items of concern relating to the welfare of the Township and its residents, we welcome the interest and participation of all.
